United States: CDC offered advice saying that immunocompromised adults should get a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
New Guidelines
On Wednesday, the CDC followed the advice of its ACIP to redefine the second dose as being given six months after the first dose of the vaccine, as reported by The Hills.
The new guidelines also offer “options for an additional dose ‘for further flexibility’ for any adult with a compromised immune system in consultation with their clinician,” as stated by the CDC.
New Vaccines for Fall and Winter
In late August, the FDA approved a few more COVID-19 changes in vaccinations for the 2024-25 fall and winter seasons that include Pfizer and Moderna.

The new vaccines aim to be effective against the omicron variant KP.2 of SARS-COVID-2, or COVID-19 virus, and against other prevalent strains.
Vaccination Encouragement Amid Rising Cases
CDC leadership and FDEE state that everyone 6 months and older should get the 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine to prevent severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
This summer, there was an increase in COVID-19 infections, and experts predict another wave in the colder season.
Concerns Over Vaccine Availability
US residents are speaking about shortages in the new COVID-19 vaccines, while one poll indicates that only 44% of adult Americans have received the latest shots or aim to do it in the future, as reported by The Hills.
